Background
Ella discovered her passion for skating at her sixth birthday party at the Oakland Ice Center. Lessons soon turned into training twice a day. Transitioning to online schooling in high school allowed Ella to pursue advanced training in Utah. This experience shaped her into a dedicated scholar-athlete who blends academic goals with athletic achievement. Looking forward, she aims to bring the same drive to higher education, focusing on academic excellence, leadership, and continued athletic growth.

2016 In-House Competition, Oakland Ice Center
Ella takes the ice for her very first competitive performance, marking the beginning of her skating journey.
02
Chasing the Biellmann Spin
Every young skater dreams of performing the iconic spin. Ella worked hard off-ice in flexibility class to learn how to pull her free leg up from behind while standing.
03
Building the spin
Capturing the early stages of her Biellmann spin, Ella brings her flexibility training onto the ice! As she masters balancing and lifting her free leg, her next goal is to maintain this difficult position for more revolutions.
04
Biellmann progress
The beautiful result of relentless practice. With her leg extending higher above her head, Ella dug deep to hold the Biellmann position steadily for 5 hard-earned revolutions.
05
Excited to start work on the double Axel!
Ella attempts one of her first double Axels in the schoolyard on a sunny December day in 2017. Building the rotation on land is where big goals start!
06
Countless falls and constant practice
Rain or shine, she routinely practices and tries to come closer to rotating this challenging jump.
07
Coming around!
It took unrelenting work, but she finally got fully around on her land double Axel!
08
2018 Glacier Falls Summer Classic Competition, Anaheim, CA
Ella started incorporating the double Axel into her Juvenile program at local and major competitions. Prepared for lower marks from the judges at first, she focused entirely on getting the jump out there under pressure, knowing this was the only way to eventual success.

09
Celebrating her first fully-rotated double Axel in competition!
At Skate San Francisco in August 2019, Ella successfully landed her very first clean double Axel. To mark the milestone, she collected a well-earned reward of squishes from her favorite store in the Sunset.

Finding stillness in the silhouette
Perched above the ice after training, Ella reflects on her day's work. This quiet stretching routine at Oakland Ice Center is where physical recovery meets mental preparation for tomorrow.
